DEFINITION
Perform duties related to the general maintenance and operation of the City's parking meters; clean, repair and replace parking meters as necessary; collect monies from parking meters; provide general information and assistance to the public; and perform a variety of tasks relative to assigned areas of responsibilities.
JOB CLASSIFICATION

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives general supervision from the General Services Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES--The following are examples of primary duties assigned to positions in this classification. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Perform duties related to the general maintenance and operation of the municipal parking meters; collect coins from parking meters and deposit monies in the bank; cover parking meters with "No Parking" hoods for special events or construction projects.
2. Inspect meters in assigned area for proper operation, identify maintenance needs; perform routine meter maintenance and field repairs including conducting oil and lubrication, cleaning, repairing and replacing parts, painting, and straightening of posts; respond to requests from the Police Department and other City departments to verify meter timing and accurate operation.
3. Prepare materials for the installation of new meters and posts; install new meters and remove old meters as assigned; stamp meter numbers and install rate and enforcement information sticker on meter.
4. Pick-up and deliver various items as assigned; collect tickets from fine boxes and deliver to customer service; pick-up tickets and municipal court bonds and deliver to the municipal court; pick-up and deliver mail; collect items from utility drop boxes and deliver to customer service.
5. Respond to inquiries for information from and provide assistance to the general public.
6. Perform safety and maintenance inspection on assigned vehicle including inspect lights, hoses and belts, check water, oil levels, and tire pressure; maintain cleanliness of vehicle.
7. Maintain a variety of inspection and maintenance records.
8. Identify vehicles that are subject to boot per municipal court and notify an enforcement officer of location of vehicle. Remove boot from vehicle upon clearance from municipal court.
9. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Operations, services and activities of a municipal public parking program.
Operational characteristics of parking meters and related components.
Safe work methods including safe driving principles and practices.
General mathematics including addition, subtraction, division and multiplication.
Principles and practices of record keeping.
Modern office technology and equipment, including computers and related software applications.
Applicable tools and equipment operations.
Applicable Federal, State and local codes, laws and regulations.
Ability to:
Perform duties in operating, repairing and maintaining parking meters.
Collect and deposit money and perform related cash transactions.
Install and remove parking meters.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Use and care for a variety of hand tools.
Establish and maintain accurate records, logs and files.
Learn principles, methods and techniques of parking meter servicing and skilled repair.
Operate and use modern office equipment including computer and various software applications.
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
Experience and Training Guidelines
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
One (1) year of general maintenance experience.
Training:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.

Position requires hearing, talking, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25-50 pounds is also required. This outdoor position works in all weather conditions.
