DEFINITION
Perform a variety of technical duties and responsibilities involved in the development, implementation, operation, and maintenance of the City's Geographic Information System for an assigned department; compile, store, manage, inventory and analyze data which is referenced spatially; and respond to requests for geographic information system data.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Information Technology Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES--The following are examples of primary duties assigned to positions in this classification. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Create, maintain, and update datasets using assigned software, relational databases, geodatabases, and query language; gather necessary information; setup and maintain the link between spatial geodatabase and the municipal asset management system database for assigned infrastructure; design, layout, and modify databases as necessary for data storage and GIS map web site design.
2. Publish datasets on a regular assigned schedule or upon request from other departments or the public; display spatial and relational information in the form of charts, tables, graphs, maps, slides, and multimedia presentations and website.
3. Provide elevated technical assistance to computer system users within various departments of the City; respond to user inquiries; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
4. Provide programming support and training to department staff and other clients; meet with end users to determine needs and product format; design, test, implement and monitor programs to ensure client needs are met.
5. Develop custom processes for data capture, conversion, and maintenance procedures using tools such as database queries, geospatial analysis, and scripting or other programming languages; participate in data conversion; translate data.
6. Perform security administration for assigned systems; assign user accounts and passwords; troubleshoot applications; determine authority levels of users in system.
7. Prepare and maintain a variety of records, reports, and logs.
8. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Experience and Training Guidelines
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
Two (2) years of increasingly responsible information systems, GIS, or technical engineering experience.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in information technology, computer science or related field.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
License or Certificate
Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver’s license.
