Conduct inspections of capital improvement and development projects; conduct and document inspections of worksites and projects; conduct and review related materials testing; review construction plans and ensure compliance.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives supervision from the Operations Maintenance Supervisor.
PRIMARY DUTIES--The following are examples of primary duties assigned to positions in this classification. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Conduct inspections on construction projects, storm and sewer lines, asphalt and traffic control projects to ensure that all jobs are completed according to City standards, specifications and quality standards; ensure quality of materials used; identify field conditions that require design changes; revise drawings to reflect as-built conditions; review material test reports; pressure test new sewer, water and storm drain lines; identify areas in non-compliance or those requiring special needs.
2. Receive and review new development plans or City projects to ensure understanding and scope of project; check plans for compliance with regulatory standards.
3. Schedule and conduct preconstruction meetings with developers, contractors, material suppliers, planners, engineers, utility companies and other interested parties; determine and discuss potential problems with projects and resolve issues as needed.
4. Perform testing of materials used in assigned projects; measure and monitor quantities of materials used for verification with contracts; take samples as appropriate; determine if materials meet regulatory compliance; document problems or concerns.
5. Document and maintain accurate records of inspection work performed; prepare lists of quantities and materials used in each project; review and verify contractor's request for payment.
6. Perform acceptance and warranty walk-throughs upon completion of project; verify all documentation is in place and correct; conduct official closing of projects and issue required documentation.
7. Conduct testing to verify horizontal and vertical alignment of installations; perform necessary measurements and calculations required to verify contractor’s payment request; recommend payments to senior staff.
8. Conduct City-wide street surveys to determine the need for asphalt overlays, concrete needs and other repairs; prepare appropriate reports for engineering staff.
9. Respond to public inquiries in a courteous manner; provide information within the area of assignment; resolve complaints in an efficient and timely manner.
10. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Knowledge of:

Experience and Training Guidelines
Minimum Requirements:
Experience:
Four (4) years of construction or inspections experience.
Training:
High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
License or Certificate
Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license.
Possession of or ability to obtain materials testing certifications.
Possession of or ability to obtain ACI certification.
Possession of or ability to obtain Worksite Traffic Technician certification.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, crawl, talk, hear, see and demonstrate manual dexterity. Materials and chemicals may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee is also required to perform light lifting.
