Monitor and maintain necessary medical and station supplies; reorder supplies as needed. 5. Perform fire station and equipment maintenance and cleaning activities; maintain station living quarters in a clean and orderly condition through routine clean-up procedures; identify deficiencies in equipment and quarters; perform minor repairs on equipment and vehicles or report deficiencies to proper staff for other disposition. 7. Conduct and participate in drills and training exercises; develop skills in fire suppression, medical aid, apparatus operation and other related areas; conduct emergency medical technician classes and evaluate and re-certify participants. 8. Participate in public relations, fire/safety education activities, and fire prevention activities including station tours, fire safety/fire suppression education away from the station, school education programs, group activities, fire drills, courtesy walk through visits, and phone inquiries. 9. Perform fire prevention inspections of commercial occupancies through departmental inspection program; identify fire and life safety hazards; provide suggestions for correction; schedule re-inspections for verification of correction; submit reports as needed. 10. Prepare and maintain a variety of records and logs; prepare a variety of reports. 11. Perform other duties of a similar nature or level. QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of: Procedures and equipment used in modern fire fighting, emergency medical and paramedic response operations. Operational characteristics of fire suppression apparatus and equipment. Principles and practices of modern fire prevention and suppression. Advanced principles of emergency medical service provision, first aid, life support and technical rescue. Medical terminology and appropriate utilization. Geography and street layout of the City and surrounding area. English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Experience and Training Guidelines Minimum Requirements: Experience: Two (2) years of increasingly responsible fire fighting or emergency medical response experience. Training: High School Diploma or G.E.D.; supplemented by specialized firefighter and emergency medicine/paramedic training. Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted. License or Certificate Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado drivers license.
