DEFINITION

 

Develop and coordinate Downtown Grand Junction programs including, but not limited to, the Downtown Ambassador Program and the Art on the Corner Program.

 

JOB CLASSIFICATION

 

Non-Exempt, Non-Safety Sensitive.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

 

Receives direction from the Executive Director of the Downtown Grand Junction.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES--The following are examples of primary duties assigned to positions in this classification. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.

 

1.  Oversee the Downtown Grand Junction Ambassador Program; recruit, train, schedule, coordinate and supervise seasonal staff; order supplies and uniforms; identify ambassador stations.

 

2.  Collect and report data to include hours worked, type of interaction, number of shifts and percent of shifts covered.

 

3.  Coordinate with Downtown staff and other relevant stakeholders including City of Grand Junction Parks and Recreation Department and the Grand Junction Police Department.

 

4.  Assist in the budget development of the Ambassador Program in coordination with the Director.

 

5.  Serve as point of contact for the Art on the Corner Program for artists and the public; coordinate installation and removal of temporary sculptures and create maintenance and cleaning plan for permanent sculptures.

 

6.  Prepare annual art exhibit and assist Community Engagement Manager with Art on the Corner brochure.

 

7.  Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Knowledge of:

 

Principles of supervision and training.

Familiarity with Downtown Grand Junction amenities and programs.

Effective communication and speaking techniques.

Principles of budget preparation and administration.

Principles and practices of program development and administration.

Modern office technology and equipment, including computers and related software applications.

Applicable federal, state, and local codes, laws, and regulations

 

Ability to:

 

Select, supervise, train and evaluate staff.

Elicit community and organizational support for programs.

Respond to requests and inquiries from the public, media and City employees.

Collect, compile, research and analyze information and data.

Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Comply with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards for handling and securing payment card information.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Respond to requests and inquiries from the public, media, and other agencies regarding programs.

Direct, coordinate, and evaluate the work of seasonal and temporary ambassador staff.

 

Experience and Training Guidelines

Minimum Requirements

 

Experience:

 

Two (2) years of experience leading volunteers and developing volunteer programs.

 

Training:

 

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

 

Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.

 

License or Certificate:

 

Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Colorado Driver License.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

Office and field environment.

 

Some evenings and weekends required.

 

Physical Conditions:

 

The job is characterized by:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, climb, crawl, talk, hear, see and demonstrate manual dexterity. Materials and chemicals may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The employee regularly works in outside weather conditions, near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration. The employee is also required to perform light lifting.
