DEFINITION
Coordinate, support and maintain a consistent brand voice across all City communication channels; create and distribute content supporting City-wide campaigns, initiatives, and creative needs; develop and execute social media strategies; produce, curate, manage and maintain photo, video and digital assets for City communications; conduct industry and audience research on target audiences, topics of interest, and community trends; monitor performance data and analytics to measure effectiveness, identify trends, and inform data-driven recommendations; write, update, and proofread a wide variety of content; perform other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Communications and Engagement Manager.
PRIMARY DUTIES-- The following are examples of primary duties assigned to positions in this classification. Other related duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
1. Coordinate, support and maintain content across the City’s communication channels to inform and engage the public; ensure content alignment with the City’s brand, standards, and processes; implement best practices for visual and digital creative content; monitor and respond in a timely manner to support two-way communication.
2. Identify and execute content distribution strategies and marketing initiatives in support of communication campaigns; monitor performance metrics; provide recommendations to increase engagement and improve communication outcomes, including contributing to reporting as needed.
3. Collaborate with City departments and external partners to support communication initiatives, public engagement efforts, and shared projects while ensuring consistent messaging and high-quality content.
4. Coordinate, curate, and support the creation of City publications, communications and visual content; capture and produce visual assets, including photography, video, and graphics.
5. Manage the content calendar and digital content workflows, including coordinating approvals and providing guidance or training to staff and stakeholders on content standards and processes.
6. Stay informed of emerging social media trends and tools; evaluate new platforms and features and provide recommendations for implementation; conduct industry and audience research ensuring relevance of content.
7. Assist the communications team with public event coordination, including logistics, promotion, materials, and real-time event coverage.
8. Perform other duties as assigned in area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Modern practices, strategies, and techniques of communications, marketing, branding, governmental relations, and community and public relations.
Photography and videography principles.
Principles, practices, and tools of website administration.
Internet standards, protocols, and security.
Content and communication strategies, including engagement metrics, and outcome evaluation.
Methods and techniques of effective community engagement through social media platforms.
Quality assurance, performance monitoring and integration methodologies.
Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers, word processing, presentation, and
spreadsheet applications.
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
Pertinent Federal, State, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability to:
Monitor, interact, and respond to community interactions on the City’s social media platforms and communication channels.
Create content to post on social media accounts regarding City, local and national events.
Monitor and analyze social media trends.

Experience and Training Guidelines
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in communications, business or public administration, journalism, or related field.
Experience:
Three (3) years’ experience in content creation and management across social media platforms, with a background in communications, public relations, marketing or other related field.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
