PEOPLE'S ORDINANCE NO. 15

 

 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE PURCHASE BY THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, OF CERTAIN REAL ESTATE TO BE USED FOR PARK AND STREET PURPOSES.

 

 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Junction owns the Public Park known as Lincoln Park; and

 

 WHEREAS, the City does not have a suitable, safe or adequate entrance for said park; and

 

 WHEREAS, the City needs additional land on the South side of said Park for said Park and for a safe entrance into same; and

 

 WHEREAS, the City can secure by purchase the following described land, adjoining said Park on the South, to-wit:

 

 Beginning at a point on the west line of Section 13 in Township 1 South, Range 1 West of the Ute Meridian, where the South line of Gunnison Avenue in the City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado, produced East intersects the said West line of said Section 13, Township and Range aforesaid, thence North along the said West line of said Section 13 to the Northwest corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13, being a distance of 190 feet, more or less; thence East to the Northeast corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13; thence South along the East line of the said Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13, a distance of 190 feet, more or less; to a point at the intersection of the South line of said Gunnison Avenue produced and extended East, with the said East line of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Said Section 13, thence West along the South line of Gunnison Avenue so produced and extended to the point of beginning, containing 5.76 acres more or less, in Mesa County, Colorado, for the sum of Three Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($3,300.00); and

 

 WHEREAS, the City has sufficient funds in its Treasury to pay for said land.

 

 THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, AND BE IT ORDAINED BY THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, UPON REFERENDUM BY THE CITY COUNCIL THEREOF:

 

 SECTION 1. That the City Council be and is hereby authorized to purchase the following described property, situate in Mesa County, Colorado, to-wit:

 

 Beginning at a point on the west line of Section 13 in Township 1 South, Range 1 West of the Ute Meridian, where the South line of Gunnison Avenue in the City of Grand Junction, Mesa County, Colorado, produced East intersects the said west line of said Section 13, Township and Range aforesaid; thence North along the said West line of said Section 13, to the Northwest corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13, being a distance of 190 feet, more or less; thence East to the Northeast corner of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13, thence South along the East line of the said Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13, a distance of 190 feet more or less, to a point at the intersection of the South line of said Gunnison Avenue produced and extended East, with the said East line of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of said Section 13, thence West along the South line of Gunnison Avenue so produced and extended to the point of beginning, containing 5.76 acres more or less, in Mesa County, Colorado, for the sum of Three Thousand Three Hundred Dollars ($3,300.00).

 

 SECTION 2. That the City Council is hereby authorized to cause the necessary surveys and plats to be made, to dedicate for street purposes the South one hundred feet of the aforesaid land, and the balance of the aforesaid land for Park purposes.

 

 WE DO HEREBY CERTIFY, that at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, held May 7th, A. D. 1924, the above and foregoing ordinance was introduced, read and ordered published and submitted to the vote of the qualified electors of said City of Grand Junction at a special municipal election to be held in said City on June 3rd A. D. 1924.

 

 That at said election the said ordinance was submitted to a vote of the qualified electors, at which time the majority of the votes of said electors voting on said question were cast in favor of the adoption of said ordinance and said ordinance was thereby duly and regularly adopted.

 

 Thereafter the said ordinance was ordered recorded and numbered "Peoples Ordinance No. 15" and was ordered published in the Daily Sentinel of said City.
