RESOLUTION NO. 76-93

 REGARDING THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION MUSEUM CONTRIBUTION

 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Junction believes that the Museum of Western Colorado is an asset to the community; and

 WHEREAS, the Museum has plans for an expanded Museum campus and requires additional space; and

 WHEREAS, this planned expansion will benefit the local citizens and be an attraction for the entire area; and

 WHEREAS, the City desires to support the Museum's expansion, by purchasing the C. D. Smith Building.

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 1. The City Council of the City of Grand Junction authorizes purchase of the C.D. Smith building at a cost of $500,000.00, as an incentive for the Museum of Western Colorado to obtain contributions for construction of a $4 million expanded Museum campus.

 2. The Museum will be granted full occupancy of the Smith building when it demonstrates $500,000.00 in new contributions toward this project.

 3. The Museum shall agree to authorize the City Council to appoint one voting member to the Museum Board of Directors.

 4. The Museum shall agree to provide a minimum of nine (9) days of free admission per year to City residents.

 5. The Museum shall agree to provide up to 150 square feet of space for the Grand Junction Visitor and Convention Bureau. This area shall include an appropriate amount of wall space.

 6. The City's $500,000.00 contribution represents the entire and full extent of the City's financial commitment to the museum.

 7. The Museum may use the building immediately for storage and occasional fund raising with approval by the City Manager.

 8. The Museum shall provide certificate of insurance naming the City as an additional insured for all contents and uses of the Smith building prior to full occupancy; upon full occupancy certificate for insurance equal to that maintained by the City.

 9. The Museum shall be responsible for all utility costs for the building and premises immediately.
