RESOLUTION 34-94

 

 

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE FORMATION OF AN "ADOPT-A-STREET" PROGRAM FOR THE REMOVAL OF LITTER FROM THE STREETS OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION

 

WHEREAS, volunteer and civic minded groups, clubs and organizations have indicated an interest in and willingness to participate in an Adopt-A-Street litter control program for City streets, and

 

WHEREAS, the City Council has determined that creation of such a program is in the best interest of the health and welfare of the citizens of the City, and

 

WHEREAS, certain dedicated volunteers have agreed to perform the service of keeping the City streets free of litter,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, Be It Resolved by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado that:

 

The City Council does hereby establish a volunteer litter control project to be known as the City of Grand Junction Adopt-A-Street program whereby individuals or groups of volunteers can contribute to the organized effort of maintaining litter-free streets and promoting a clean environment.

 

As a part of the Adopt-A-Street program, the Department of Public Works and Utilities will cooperate with volunteers to adopt street sections and will post signs identifying the volunteers that will be keeping that street litter free.

 

The Adopt-A-Street volunteers shall follow all reasonable safety precautions, including but not necessarily limited to, wearing safety vests and adhering to all applicable requirements of the Model Traffic Code.
