A RESOLUTION ADOPTING PHASE I PROGRAM FOR PARKS DEVELOPMENT
Recitals.
The Council appointed a Parks Development Task Force to assist the Council in developing a plan to develop City parks. That Task Force, on January 10, 1995 made a recommendation to the City Council which the Council now approves.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION
1. The recommendations of the Park Development Task Force, as set forth below, are hereby adopted.
The following parks will be developed, based on the estimates set forth, in the next 3-6 years (Phase 1):
24 & G Road $5.5
26 1/2 & H Road $1.7
12th and G Road $ .4
Orchard Mesa Site $ .9
Pine Ridge Park $ .2
Existing Parks $ .3
Total $9.0 million
2. Staff is hereby directed to take such preliminary steps as are necessary to request voter approval, on an election date to be determined, to incur debt of at least $5.5 million for park development.
3. There will be no new taxes required; the debt will be served by the existing sales tax revenues. The Park Development Task Force intends to continue to work to find other sources of funding for the additional $3.5 million needed to complete Phase 1.
