Resolution No. 59-96
Amending Resolution 89-94
By providing that a Councilmember may be, but need not be,
a voting member of the Commission
Resolution 44-89, which created the Arts Commission of the City and established the membership and terms thereof, was amended by Resolution 89-94 which provided that "one of the nine members of the commission shall be a City Councilperson with full rights of participation and voting. The Council shall designate which of its members shall be a member of the Arts Commission."
Due to the recent and continued successes of the Commission in promoting, fostering and encouraging art and cultural activities within the City, the City Council has determined that Council representation on the Commission Board is presently not necessary.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:
Section 5 of Resolution 89-94 is hereby amended to read: "... one of the nine members of the commission may be a City Councilperson with full rights of participation and voting. From time to time if the Council chooses to have City Council representation on the Commission, the Council shall designate which of its members shall be a member and for what period of time such member shall serve."
PASSED and ADOPTED this 5th day of June, 1996.
