Resolution No. 8-97

 

 

Amending the By-Laws of the Grand Junction Commission on

Arts and Culture

 

 

 

WHEREAS the Grand Junction Commission on Arts and Culture wishes to clarify certain portions of its By-Laws as adopted by the City Council on May 1, 1991, and,

 

WHEREAS the Commission wishes to encourage attendance of its members to all regularly scheduled meetings,

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

Article III, Section 5-B, be amended as follows: Delete the current wording for all of Article III, Section 5-B:

 "5. Removal

  B. Failure to attend three (3) consecutive regularly scheduled meetings of the Commission, without reasonable cause acceptable to the Chairperson, shall result in notification thereof to the Commission, and the Commission shall approve or disapprove a recommendation to the City Council for removal of the member."

 

And replace the above with the following wording:

"5. Removal

B. Failure to attend four (4) regularly scheduled meetings of the Commission within any twelve (12) month period shall result in a recommendation to the City Council for removal of the member."

 

And add the phrase (in italics) to Article III, Section 2-B:

"2. Composition and Selection

B. Members shall serve without compensation, except for those expenses incurred in connection with the work of the Commission as approved by the City Manager or his/her designee."
