A RESOLUTION SETTING FORTH THE NOTICE OF ELECTION

FOR THE SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD

ON APRIL 7, 1998 IN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION

 

BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO THAT:

The Election Notice hereinafter be the Notice of the Special Municipal Election to be held in the City on April 7, 1998, and further that the same be published in accordance with election procedures:

CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION

TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, THE 7TH DAY OF APRIL, 1998

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN THAT A SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, THE 7TH DAY OF APRIL, 1998, IN THE POLLING PLACES HEREINAFTER DESIGNATED IN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

That said Regular Municipal Election will be held at the polling places in the several districts of the City of Grand Junction as follows:

District A, Precinct 1 - Orchard Mesa Middle School

2736 Unaweep Avenue

District A, Precinct 2 - Wingate Elementary School

334 South Camp Road

 

District B, Precinct 3 - Mesa View Retirement Center

601 Horizon Place

 

District C, Precinct 4 - Northeast Christian Church

2001 Patterson Road

District D, Precinct 5 - Visitor & Convention Center

 749 Horizon Drive

District E, Precinct 6 - Lincoln Park Elementary School            600 N. 14th Street

Upon the date at the places designated, the polls will be open from the hour of 7:00 a.m. and will be closed at the hour of 7:00 p.m. Voting devices will be provided in each polling place for the election. The ballots to be used in voting will be prepared and furnished by the City Clerk to the Judges of Election, to be by them furnished to the voters. The election will be held and conducted as nearly as may be as prescribed by law.

 Applications for absentee ballots are available from the City Clerk, 250 N. 5th Street, Grand Junction, Co. 81501. Absent voter machines will be provided in the City Clerk’s Office during normal business hours starting Friday, March 27, 1998 until Friday, April 3, 1998.

 

 Registered voters within the city limits of Grand Junction are qualified to vote. Registration of voters for the said election has taken place in the time and manner now provided by law.

 

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL THAT AT THE SAID SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON APRIL 7, 1998, there be submitted to the electorate the following question:

Shall the City Council be authorized to sell the described real property, consisting of approximately 2.32 acres (generally described as that portion of the existing Lilac Park due north of the Bozarth property, and further generally described as a rectangle 723 feet wide east to west and 140 feet north to south), for not less than fair market value, pursuant to a bid process, the sale proceeds of which shall be used for parks acquisition or development, to wit:

 

Beginning at the NE corner of Section 15, Township 1S, Range 1W of the Ute Meridian, thence South 00°09’42” West along the east line of the NE 1/4 of said Section 15, a distance of 210.00 feet to a point; thence North 89°39’38” West, parallel to the north line of the NE 1/4 of said Section 15 a distance of 267.00 feet to the TRUE POINT OF BEGINNING; thence North 89°39’38” West, parallel to the north line of the NE 1/4 of said Section 15 a distance of 723.00 feet to a point; thence North 00°09’42” East, parallel to the east line of the NE 1/4 of said Section 15 a distance of 140.00 feet to a point; thence South 89°39’38” East, parallel to the north line of the NE 1/4 of said Section 15, a distance of 723.00 feet to a point; thence South 00°09’42” West parallel to the east line of the NE 1/4 of said Section 15 a distance of 140.00 feet to the True Point of Beginning, said tract containing 2.32 acres.
