Resolution No. 73-98

Indemnifying the United States

For the use of the Wayne Aspinall Courthouse

For the Teen Court Program

Recitals.

The Chief Judge of the District of Colorado Federal District Court has authorized the use of the courtroom in the federal courthouse in Grand Junction for use by the City of Grand Junction's Municipal Court Teen Court program on the condition that the City indemnify the United States against any liabilities related to the City's use of the courthouse for the Teen Court program.

The City Council finds that, based on the representations of the Municipal Judge and the City Attorney, the use of the federal courtroom will add decorum and be an imposing atmosphere so that the teen defendants will receive the most benefit from the Teen Court program.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

The City of Grand Junction shall indemnify the United States from liabilities incurred by the United States, District of Colorado District Court, resulting from the use of the Wayne Aspinall Courthouse in Grand Junction.

PASSED and ADOPTED this 18th day of November, 1998.

/s/ Janet L. Terry                    President of the Council
