RESOLUTION NO. 109-99

CHANGING THE NUMBER OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE

CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION HOUSING AUTHORITY

FROM FIVE TO SEVEN

AS AUTHORIZED BY 29-4-204, C.R.S., AS AMENDED

Recitals.

The City of Grand Junction Housing Authority has operated for many years in providing valuable services and support for the citizens of Grand Junction. In accordance with the state laws, there have been five commissioners appointed to govern the City's Housing Authority.

In the 1999 legislative session, the number of commissioners may be increased, pursuant to § 29-4-204, C.R.S., as amended, from five to "…no more than nine…[as] specified by the council in the resolution."

Recent changes to applicable federal law require that, in order to maintain eligibility for present and future funding and support, representation on such boards and commissions be expanded to include persons being directly served.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

1. Pursuant to §29-4-201, et seq., C.R.S., the number of Commissioners of the City of Grand Junction Housing Authority is increased from five to seven. In cooperation with the Housing Authority, and consistent with the new guidelines and requirements, the City Clerk is directed to advertise and request the names of appropriate persons who can be considered for appointment by the Council as a Housing Authority Commissioner.

PASSED and ADOPTED this 15th day of September, 1999.

ATTEST:
