A Resolution Endorsing School District’s Ballot Issue 3A

 

 

Recitals

 

The Mesa County Valley School District No. 51 Board of Education has placed an initiative on the November 2,1999, ballot; and

 

The initiative is an attempt by the School District to obtain additional revenue without a tax increase; and

 

A similar initiative has been approved by voters in 137 other school districts in Colorado; and

 

Passing this initiative will allow the School District to compete for and receive revenues from state grants; and

 

The state grants will provide Mesa County children with supplemental programs that would otherwise go to other districts.

 

NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Grand Junction City Council does hereby endorse and support Ballot Issue 3A that allows School District No. 51 to exceed its revenue limits; and

 

THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Grand Junction City Council --does encourage Grand Junction residents to support the *Our Kids Our Fair Share* campaign being conducted by the *Partnership for Learning,* and vote yes on 3A -November 2.
