RESOLUTION NO. 158-06

 

A RESOLUTION APPOINTING DAVID A. VARLEY AS CITY MANAGER

 

 

RECITALS:

 

Pursuant to ยง56 of the Grand Junction City Charter, the City Council shall appoint a City Manager, who shall be the Chief Executive Officer to the City.

 

The City Council has determined that David A. Varley shall be appointed to that office, having demonstrated that he possesses experience in city management as required by the Charter.

 

Mr. Varley has served as the Interim City Manager since June 2006 following the resignation of the former City Manager. Mr. Varley has been with the City since 1993 in the role as Assistant City Manager. He also has previously served in other interim capacities for the City of Grand Junction including Interim City Manager in 2000 and Interim Community Development Director.

 

Prior to his service for the City Mr. Varley was employed in Silverthorne Colorado as the Town Manager and in Wichita Falls Texas.

 

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION THAT:

David A. Varley is appointed as City Manager for the City of Grand Junction, effective immediately.
