ORDINANCE NO. 264

 

AN ORDINANCE REGULATING RAILROADS WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL of the city of Grand Junction, Colorado:

 

Section 1. Any engineer or other person in charge of any locomotive engine within the City of Grand Junction, on approaching any public crossing, street or highway, shall ring, or cause to be rung, a bell to warn all persons of the approach of such locomotive engine and shall continue to ring such bell, or cause the same to be rung, until such locomotive engine shall have cleared such crossing.

 

Sec. 2. No engineer, conductor, brakeman or other person having charge of any locomotive engine or train of cars shall obstruct the free passage of any public crossing, street or highway within the City of Grand Junction by permitting any car or cars, or locomotive engine to stop at any time upon such public crossing, street or highway for a longer period of time than five minutes.

 

Sec. 3. Any person who shall violate any of the provisions of this Ordinance shall upon conviction be fined in a sum not less than five ($5.00) dollars nor more than one hundred ($100.00) dollars for each and every offense.

I HEREBY CERTIFY, that the foregoing ordinance, entitled "An Ordinance Regulating Railroads within the City Limits," was introduced and read at a regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, held on the 29th day of January, A. D. 1918, and that the same was published in full in The Daily News, a daily newspaper published and in general circulation in said city, at least ten days before its passage.
