ORDINANCE NO. 281.

________

AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A PERMIT FOR ERECTING, REMODELING AND ALTERING A BUILDING IN THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION AND ALSO REQUIRING A PERMIT FOR MOVING ANY BUILDING ALONG THE PUBLIC STREETS OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION.

Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado:

Section 1. No person shall proceed with the erection, enlargement, alteration, repair or removal of any building in the City of Grand Junction without first obtaining a permit for such erection, enlargement, alteration, repair or removal, which permit shall be obtained from the Commissioner of Public Affairs on application by the owner or his agent; provided, however, that a permit shall not be required for the alteration of any building outside the fire limits where such alteration shall not cost to exceed fifty ($50.00) dollars. The said application for such permit shall be made by the owner or his agent upon blanks to be furnished by the City, and such application shall show the number of rooms, description, size and cost of the building to be erected, enlarged, altered, repaired or removed and shall be accompanied by a full and complete set of plans showing the construction and material to be used and the estimated cost of such building, enlargement, alteration or repair; provided, however, that the Commissioner of Public Affairs may accept in place of such plans a rough sketch of the work proposed to be done. However, such application shall show that such building, enlargement, alteration, repair or removal shall be in conformity with the provisions of the Ordinances of the City of Grand Junction, before such permit shall be granted for such building, enlargement, alteration, repair or removal.

Section 2. No person shall move any building or part thereof along any of the streets of the city of Grand Junction without having a permit so to do. Any person desiring such permit shall make application therefor to the Commissioner of Public Affairs. Such application shall be in writing and shall state the location of the building proposed to be moved and the place to which it is to be moved, whether the same is a dwelling house or other building, and the number of rooms of such building.

Section 3. The permit to be furnished by the Commissioner of Public Affairs under this ordinance shall be in writing and shall be made in duplicate, one copy to be given the owner or his agent, and the other to be retained by the City. The said permit shall show the general character of the work to be done and the estimated cost thereof.

Section 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not less than five dollars ($5.00) or more than fifty ($50.00) dollars for each offense.
