ORDINANCE NO. 285.
________
AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, the amount heretofore appropriated to maintain the Health Department for the fiscal year 1919, because of the unexpected and unusual expense of maintaining the Red Mesa Hospital, because of the small pox epidemic, and the unusual and unexpected expense for fumigating material, owing to the epidemic of scarlet fever, has been expended and sufficient funds are not available to maintain the Health Department for the balance of the year 1919; therefore an unforeseen contingency has arisen, making it necessary to pass an emergency ordinance to appropriate money to maintain the Health Department of the City of Grand Junction for the balance of the year 1919;
THEREFORE, Be it Ordained by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado:
Section 1. That there be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses of the Health Department of the City of Grand Junction for the remainder of the present fiscal year, ending December 31, 1919, the sum of $1,500.00.
Sec. 2. This ordinance is passed because of a special emergency for the preservation of the public health, and shall go into effect upon its passage.
Passed and adopted this 5th day of August, A. D. 1919.
