ORDINANCE NO. 286.

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT.

 

WHEREAS, the amount heretofore appropriated for the maintenance of the Fire Department for the fiscal year 1919 is insufficient because of the unforeseen advance in wages made necessary by the high cost of living.

 

THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado:

 

Section 1. That there be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of defraying the expense of the Fire Department for the fiscal year 1919, the sum of fifteen hundred ($1500.00) dollars, said sum being in addition to the appropriation heretofore made for the Fire Department for the said fiscal year.

 

Section 2. This ordinance is passed because of a special emergency arising from an unforeseen contingency and its passage is necessary for the preservation of public safety and shall take effect on the passage and publication thereof.

 

Passed and adopted this 5th day of November, A. D. 1919.
