ORDINANCE NO. 314

 

 

 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 146, passed and adopted August 27th, 1907, and entitled "AN ORDINANCE CONCERNING JUNK DEALERS."

 

 

 WHEREAS, a special emergency has arisen whereby in order to preserve and protect the public peace and safety it has become necessary that the City of Grand Junction exercise a more direct supervision over the business of junk dealers.

 

 

 THEREFORE, be it ordained by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction:

 

 

 Section 1. That Section 2 of Ordinance No. 146, passed and adopted August 27th, 1907, and entitled "An Ordinance concerning junk dealers", be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows:

 

 

 Section 2. Every junk dealer shall have a regular place of business within the City of Grand Junction, which place shall be open for inspection to any Officer of the City, or any citizen of the City when accompanied by an Officer of the City, and every such junk dealer shall keep at his said place of business a substantial and well bound book in which he shall enter in writing the names and residences of persons from whom he shall purchase or receive any old iron, lead, steel, copper, brass or other metals, rags, bones, bottles, paper or other materials, which said book shall be kept clean and legible and shall not erase, obliterate or deface any entry therein and shall make all entries therein in ink and such book shall be open for inspection to any person or persons at all times when accompanied by an Officer of the City. And every such junk dealer shall make a weekly report in writing, in the form prescribed by the Chief of Police of the City of Grand Junction, to the Chief of Police of said City, giving an accurate description of each and every article of old iron, lead, steel, copper, brass, or other metals, rags, bones, bottles, paper or other materials purchased or received, the date of the receipt of the same, and the name, residence and description of the person selling the same.

 

 

 Section 2. This Ordinance is passed because of a special emergency for the preservation of the public peace and safety and shall go into effect upon its passage.

 

 

Passed and adopted the 12th day of April, A.D., 1922.
