ORDINANCE NO. 338

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE STREETS AND ALLEYS, FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF THE PARK DEPARTMENT AND FOR THE CITY HALL FUND.

WHEREAS, since the adoption of the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1923, unforeseen contingencies have arisen because of the necessary additions to the Police force, the buying of needed equipment for the Highway Department, the building of an Exhibition Hall at Lincoln Park and added improvements to the City Hall.

THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

Section 1. That there be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of maintaining, the Police Department for the remainder of the fiscal year ending December 31, 1923, the sum of $2,500.00.

Section 2. That there be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of maintaining the streets and alleys for the remainder of the fiscal year ending December 31, 1923, the sum of $4,400.00.

Section 3. That there be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of maintaining the Park Department for the remainder of the fiscal year ending December 31, 1923, the sum of $5,760.00.

Section 4. That there be and hereby is appropriated for the purpose of paying for additional improvements to the City Hall for the year 1923, the sum of $100.00.

By reason of the fact that the funds in the above named departments are exhausted and the work of the departments must be carried on, a special emergency is declared to exist, and the City Council finds and determines that this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and that it shall take effect upon passage.

Adopted and approved this 24th day of October, A.D. 1923.
