ORDINANCE No. 441
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Since the date of the adoption of the annual appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31st, 1928, unforseen contingencies have arisen in that since said date the City has been called upon to expend more money than provided in the budget for the purpose of suppressing and arresting violators of the prohibition ordinance of said City; and as a result thereof, insufficient funds remain in said fund with which to pay the regular December salaries of the police force, and an emergency exists;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:
SECTION 1. That for the purpose of paying the December salaries of the police force of the City of Grand Junction, there is hereby appropriated out of general funds belonging to said city, the sum of Two Hundred ($200.00) Dollars.
SECTION 2. That in the opinion of the City Council a special emergency exists for the preservation of the public safety, and this ordinance shall therefore go into effect upon its passage.
