ORDINANCE NO. 475
AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND REGULATING THE BUSINESS OF
CONTRACTORS FOR BUILDING CEMENT SIDEWALKS IN THE
CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
SECTION 1. That any person, firm or corporation engaged in or intending to engage in the business of contracting for building, reconstructing or repairing cement sidewalks or curbing in the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, after December 31, 1920, shall first procure a license therefor, to be issued by the City Clerk, for the term of one year, upon application made to such official and the payment of a license fee of $1.00 per annum therefor, in advance and upon filing the bond hereinafter required.
SECTION 2. That any person, firm or corporation applying for a license to engage in the business of contracting for building, reconstructing or repairing cement sidewalks or curbing in the City of Grand Junction, under the provisions of Section 1 of this ordinance, shall, at the time of making such application, execute to the City of Grand Junction a good and sufficient bond, approved by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, in the sum of $500.00 conditioned for the payment to said City, or to any property owner sustaining any damage, of the amount of any such damage sustained by said City or such property owner, not exceeding the amount of said bond, on account of the failure of such contractor properly to build, reconstruct or repair any cement sidewalk or curbing within the City of Grand Junction in the manner provided by the ordinances of said City.
SECTION 3. That such person, firm or corporation shall, before commencing the work of building, reconstructing or repairing such sidewalk or curbing, make application and procure from the City Manager a permit therefor, which permit shall be issued only to such person, firm or corporation that shall first have secured the license and filed the bond as required by Sections 1 and 2 of this ordinance and shall have filed with said City Manager a correct description of the lots, tracts or parcels of land in front of which and along which said proposed sidewalk or curbing is to be constructed, reconstructed or repaired; provided further, that no such permit shall be issued by the City Manager to construct any such sidewalk or curbing until a record grade therefor shall have been established by the City Engineer.
SECTION 4. Any person, firm or corporation engaged in the business of contracting for building, reconstructing or repairing cement sidewalks or curbing in the City of Grand Junction, without first procuring a license therefor and filing a bond as required by Sections 1 and 2 of this ordinance, or shall commence the work of building such sidewalk or curbing without first having procured the permit therefor as required by Section 3 of this ordinance, shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall pay a fine of not less than $10.00 nor more than $100.00.
SECTION 5. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
