ORDINANCE NO. 477

 

THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, A. D. 1931, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31st, 1931, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

 

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

SECTION 1. That the following sums of money or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated for the purposes of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the fiscal year beginning January 1st, 1931, and ending December 31st, 1931, to-wit:

 

FIRST: For Interest and Principal on General City Bonds . . . . $23,692.72

 

SECOND: For Community Service . . . . 2,740.75

 

THIRD: For the Contingent Fund . . . . 8,589.90

 

FOURTH: For Maintaining the Fire Dept. . . . . 14,634.50

 

FIFTH: For the Engineering Department . . . . 4,250.00

 

SIXTH: For Maintaining the Airport . . . . 1,443.00

 

SEVENTH: For Maintaining and Improving Health Conditions of the City . . . . 7,403.75

 

EIGHTH: For Maintenance and Operation of Moyer Pool . . . . 5,950.00

 

NINTH: For Maintenance Free Public Library . . . . 4,600.00

 

TENTH: For Maintaining & Improving Streets and Alleys . . . . 23,389.00

 

ELEVENTH: For Lighting Streets, Alleys, and Parks . . . . 16,064.00

 

TWELFTH: For Salaries of Officers, Office Supplies, Printing, Fuel, Lights, and Telephone . . . . 16,635.20

SIXTEENTH: For Rental Fire Hydrants . . . . 5,800.00

 

SEVENTEENTH: For Maintaining the Sewers . . . . 1,260.00

 

EIGHTEENTH: For Principal on Water Bonds Water Sinking Fund . . . . $31,077.50

 

NINETEENTH: For Maintaining, Operating, and Extending the Water System . . . . 87,884.34

 

TWENTIETH: For Principal and Interest on Water Bonds Water Working Fund . . . . 23,872.02

 

SECTION 2. That for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the said City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the fiscal year beginning January 1st, 1931, and ending December 31st, 1931, there shall be and there hereby is levied and assessed upon all the taxable property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction, both real and personal, for the purposes of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities and water works purposes of the City of Grand Junction, and for the payment of interest on outstanding bonds and for the payment of a portion of the bonded indebtedness of said City, a tax of thirteen and one-half mills on each dollar of said property so assessed.

 

SECTION 3. By reason of the fact that this ordinance must be in effect on January 1st, 1931, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

 

Adopted and approved this 19th day of November, A. D. 1930.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled, "THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, A. D. 1931, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31st, 1931, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY", was introduced, read, passed, numbered 477, and ordered published, by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of the said Council held on the 19th day of November, A. D. 1930.
