ORDINANCE NO. 485

 

AN ORDINANCE RELATING TO DOGS AND PROVIDING FOR THE LICENSING THEREOF, AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS THEREOF IN CONFLICT HEREWITH

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

SECTION 1. From and after the effective date of this ordinance, every owner or possessor and every person who harbors or keeps any dog or dogs within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction shall annually pay to the City Clerk of said City, for the use and benefit of the City, the sum of $2.50 for each and every male dog and the sum of $5.00 for each and every female dog owned, possessed, harbored or kept by such person.

 

SECTION 2. Every such owner or possessor and any person who harbors or keeps any dog or dogs as aforesaid, upon making payment as prescribed in Section 1 and exhibiting to the said City Clerk a certificate of the vaccination of said dog against infection from rabies within two years from the date of such application, as elsewhere provided by the ordinances of said City, shall receive from said Clerk a license for the period of one year. It shall be the duty of every such person to place upon the neck of every such dog, a collar made of durable material, to which shall be securely attached, for the term of such license, the numbered metallic license tag to be issued by the City Clerk and the numbered metallic tag issued by the veterinarian at the time of the vaccination of such animal as aforesaid.

 

SECTION 3. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.
