ORDINANCE NO. 498

THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, 1933, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31st, 1933, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

SECTION 1. That the following sums of money or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated for the purposes of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the fiscal year beginning January 1st, 1933 and ending December 31st, 1933, to-wit:

FIRST: For Interest and Principal on General City Bonds . . . . $21,080.00

SECOND: For the Special Contingency Fund . . . . 23,828.09

THIRD: For the Miscellaneous Fund . . . . 7,531.16

FOURTH: For Maintaining the Fire Department . . . . 11,811.50

FIFTH: For Maintaining the Airport . . . . 350.00

SIXTH: For Maintaining & Improving Health Conditions of the City . . . . 5,513.75

SEVENTH: For Maintenance & Operation of Moyer Pool . . . . 2,210.00

EIGHTH: For the Engineering Department . . . . 1,150.00

NINTH: -For Maintenance Free Public Library . . . . 4,400.00

TENTH: For Maintenance & Improving Streets & Alleys . . . . 14,625.00

ELEVENTH: For Lighting Streets, Alleys & Parks . . . . 14,784.80

TWELFTH: For Salaries of Officers, Office Supplies, printing, fuel, lights, and telephone . . . . 11,950.00

THIRTEENTH: For Maintaining & Improving the Public Parks & Cemeteries . . . . 16,114.44

FOURTEENTH: For Maintaining the Police Department . . . . 14,556.25

FIFTEENTH: For the Public Benefit . . . . 1,850.00

SIXTEENTH: For Rental Fire Hydrants . . . . 2,920.00

SEVENTEENTH: For Maintaining the Sewers . . . . 960.00

EIGHTEENTH: For Principal on Water Bonds Water Sinking Fund . . . . 34,000.00

NINETEENTH: For Maintaining, Operating, & Extending the Water System . . . . 65,892.50

TWENTIETH: For Interest on Water Bonds Water Working Fund . . . . 21,412.50

SECTION 2. That for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the said City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the fiscal year beginning January 1st, 1933 and ending December 31st, 1933, there shall be and there hereby is levied and assessed upon all the taxable property situated within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction, both real and personal, for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the City of Grand Junction, and for the payment of interest on outstanding bonds and for the payment of a portion of the bonded indebtedness of said City, a tax of thirteen mills on each dollar of said property so assessed.

SECTION 3. By reason of the fact that this ordinance must be in effect on January 1st, 1933, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

Adopted and approved this 21st day of December, A. D. 1933.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled, "THE ANNUAL APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, PROVIDING FOR THE EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, 1933, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31st, 1933, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY", was introduced, read, passed, and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 21st day of December, A. D. 1932.
