ORDINANCE NO. 499

 

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE REGISTERING AND PAYMENT OF UNPAID CITY WARRANTS OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION.

 

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLO.

 

 SECTION 1. Whenever lawful warrants of the City of Grand Junction are presented to the City Treasurer of Grand Junction for payment, and the Treasurer shall not have on hand money for the payment of the same, he is directed to endorse thereon the date when presented and this statement: "Not paid for want of funds. This warrant shall bear interest at the rate of 6% per annum from the ________ day of ________ 19 ________ (the date when presented) until paid," and shall subscribe such endorsement with his official signature, and shall note the same in a book to be kept by him, known as the Warrant Register.

 

 SECTION 2. Whenever said Treasurer has on hand cash to the amount of five hundred dollars ($500.00) in the fund upon which such warrants have been drawn, it shall be his duty to immediately apply all such funds to the redemption of an equal amount of such outstanding warrants, with the interest due thereon, as may be entitled to a preference as to payment according to the order of time in which they have been previously presented to the Treasurer, as evidenced by the Warrant Register. For this purpose he shall cause to be advertised once in a daily newspaper published in Grand Junction a notice that he will redeem such certain city warrants, with interest due thereon, stating their numbers and amounts, on presentation at the office of the City Treasurer and that, at the expiration of ten days from the date of such notice, such warrants shall cease to bear interest.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY That the foregoing ordinance being Ordinance No. 499, was introduced and read and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of the said body held on the 15th day of March, A. D. 1933, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City, at least ten days before its final passage.
