ORDINANCE NO. 514

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION I OF ARTICLE 2 OF ORDINANCE NO. 83, AS SUBSEQUENTLY AMENDED.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

SECTION 1. That Section 1 of Article 2 of Ordinance No. 83, as amended by Ordinance Nos. 305, 306 and 458, be and is hereby amended to read as follows:

Article 2, Section 1. No dog or bitch shall be kept or allowed to run at large within the City of Grand Junction unless the owner or keeper thereof shall first obtain from the City Clerk of said City a license therefor, and shall pay to the City Treasurer of said City the following license fee; For each and every male dog or spayed bitch, the sum of $1.00 if paid to the City Treasurer at his office in the City Hall, otherwise the sum of $2.00, and for each and every other bitch, the sum of $2.50 if paid to the City Treasurer at his office in the City Hall, otherwise the sum of $3.50, and shall exhibit to the City Clerk of said City before the issuance of such license a certificate of the vaccination of said dog or bitch against infection of rabies within eighteen months from the date of application for such license, as elsewhere provided by ordinances of said City; and unless the owner or keeper thereof shall also place and keep upon the neck of such dog or bitch a collar of durable material, to which shall be securely attached during the term of such license, the numbered metallic license tag issued by the City Clerk, and the numbered metallic tag issued by the veterinarian who vaccinated such animal against infection of rabies.

SECTION 2. The City Council is of the opinion and finds, determines and declares that this ordinance is necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety, and that a special emergency exists therefor; and this ordinance shall therefore be effective and in force from and after its adoption and passage.
