ORDINANCE NO. 521

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND SPECIAL CONTINGENT FUND

WHEREAS, Since the adoption of the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31st, 1934, it has been necessary for the City to provide projects under the C.W.A. and F.E.R.A. which have required the expenditure of a considerable amount of money for supervision, purchase of materials, and use of equipment, which was not contemplated in making up the budget.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

SECTION 1. That there be and there is hereby appropriated to the Highway Department, for the purpose of paying for materials and for the use of equipment for oiling various streets throughout the City, and in order to provide a project for Relief Workers under the F.E.R.A., the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.

SECTION 2. That there be and there is hereby appropriated to the Special Contingent fund for the purpose of providing materials and equipment for any additional F.E.R.A. projects necessary, the sum of Five Thousand ($5,000.00) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.

SECTION 3. By reason of the fact that under the F.E.R.A. set-up, projects must be supplied for Relief Workers, and materials and equipment must be furnished by the City, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council so finds and determines that this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

Passed and adopted this 5th day of July A.D. 1934.
