ORDINANCE NO. 554
AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION
TO THE WATER DEPARTMENT
WHEREAS, since the adoption of the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1936, the City has purchased a storage reservoir on the top of Grand Mesa for the additional supply of water for domestic purposes, and
WHEREAS, it has become necessary to make certain repairs upon the dam and outlet of the said reservoir in order to secure a better quality and volume of water:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
SECTION 1. That there be, and there is hereby appropriated to the Water Department for the purpose of constructing a roadway, repairing and enlarging the dam, facing the said dam with loose rubble rock protection, and cleaning the outlet from said reservoir, the sum of Three Thousand ($3,000.00) Dollars or so much thereof as may be necessary.
SECTION 2. By reason of the fact that this work can be done only in the fall of the year when the reservoir is empty, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council so finds and determines that this Ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety, and that it shall take effect on its passage.
