ORDINANCE NO. 584

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE SEWER DEPARTMENT AND THE PARK DEPARTMENT.

WHEREAS, since the adoption of the appropriation ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1937, the overloaded capacities of certain sewers made it necessary to do additional work cleaning and repairing said sewers, which was not provided for in the budget, and

WHEREAS, due to the curtailment of W. P. A. financial policies, which resulted in the increase in the cost of supervision, materials, etc. in the construction of the caretaker's house and the golf club house, the amount expended upon the W. P. A. project in the park has exceeded the anticipated amount in the budget.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

SECTION 1. That there be and there is hereby appropriated to the Sewer Department, the sum of Three Hundred Fifty ($350.00) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.

SECTION 2. That there be and there is hereby appropriated to the Park Department, Two Thousand ($2,000.00) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.

SECTION 3. By reason of the fact that this money has already been advanced and the appropriations for the Sewer Department and Park Department would be overdrawn unless this ordinance is passed, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council so finds and determines that this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

Passed and adopted this 3rd day of November, A. D. 1937.

/s/ C. K. Enstrom

President of the Council
