ORDINANCE NO. 585

AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUMS OF MONEY TO DEFRAY THE NECESSARY EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, 1938, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31st, 1938, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

SECTION 1. That the following sums of money or so much thereof as may be necessary, be and the same are hereby appropriated for the purpose of defraying the necessary expenses and liabilities of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the fiscal year beginning January 1st, 1938, and ending December 31st, 1938, to-wit:

SECTION 2. That the amounts hereby appropriated for water bonds and interest and for maintenance, operation and improvements of the water system shall be provided for and paid out of the Water Fund.

That the amount appropriated for Moyer Pool maintenance and improvement shall be paid out of the funds on hand in the Moyer Pool Fund and revenue received from Moyer Pool for the year 1938.

That the amount appropriated for the Library shall be $10,900 secured from the sale of Library bonds and the balance by levy upon all property subject to local levy within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado.

That the amount appropriated for all other purposes shall be provided for by funds on hand and income from license fees, franchise tax and other miscellaneous receipts, and by levy upon all property subject to local levy within the corporate limits of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, as hereafter stated.

SECTION 3. The following amounts are hereby levied for the year 1938 to meet the necessary expenditures and liabilities of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, for the year 1938, for the specific purposes indicated.

For General Fund (based on general fund appropriation) 14 and 322/1000 of one mill $103,767.77

For Library Fund 1 and 178/1000 of one mill 8,535.00

TOTAL 15 1/2 mills 112,302.77

SECTION 4. By reason of the fact that this ordinance must be in effect on January 1st, 1938, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health, and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE APPROPRIATING CERTAIN SUMS OF MONEY TO DEFRAY THE NECESSARY EXPENSES AND LIABILITIES OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO, FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JANUARY 1st, 1938, AND ENDING DECEMBER 31st, 1938, AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY," was introduced, read, passed, numbered 585, and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 1st day of December, A. D. 1937.
