ORDINANCE NO. 586

 

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION FOR FORCE ACCOUNT.

 

WHEREAS, the appropriation for Force Account is for the express purpose of covering expenditures which will be repaid to the City Treasurer, and

 

WHEREAS, the purchase of Tax Sale Certificates on numerous foreclosures on real estate in the City of Grand Junction, together with the expense of Treasurer's deeds, abstracts, and quiet title suits, has taken most of the funds appropriated, and

 

WHEREAS, it is necessary to make certain payments upon Tax Sale Certificates together with other matters pertaining to the quieting of titles so that these properties can be sold.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

SECTION 1. That there be and there is hereby appropriated to Force Account the sum of $5,000.00 or so much thereof as may be necessary.

 

SECTION 2. By reason of the fact that it is necessary to advance money at once in order to have certain properties ready for sale, a special emergency is declared to exist, and the City Council finds and determines that this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety, and that it shall take effect upon its passage.

 

Passed and adopted this 1st day of December, A. D. 1937.
