ORDINANCE NO. 594
AN ORDINANCE LICENSING AND REGULATING THE HAULING OF REFUSE, TRASH, RUBBISH OR LIKE WASTE MATERIALS OVER THE PUBLIC STREETS, ALLEYS AND AVENUES OF GRAND JUNCTION.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
Section 1. No person, firm or corporation, except licensed draymen and those licensed to operate transfer and express wagons, shall haul, carry or transport or cause to be hauled, carried or transported any refuse, trash, rubbish or like waste materials over any of the streets, alleys or avenues of the City of Grand Junction without first having procured a license therefor from the City.
Section 2. Application for such license shall be made to the City Clerk, who shall issue the same upon payment of an annual license fee of $15.00 for each truck or conveyance used or to be used for such purposes. Such licenses shall be issued pursuant to the provisions of Ordinance No. 238 and shall not be transferable and shall not be apportioned or pro-rated for any fraction of a year.
Section 3. No person, firm or corporation shall haul, convey or transport any refuse, trash, rubbish or like water material over the streets, alleys or avenues of the City of Grand Junction, except in containers approved by the City Manager.
Section 4. No person, firm or corporation shall dump or deposit any refuse, trash, rubbish or like waste materials at any place within or without the City, except at the city dump and at such place or places therein as shall be designated by the Health Department or at such other places as may be authorized or designated by the Health Department.
Section 5. No license shall be required from any person, firm or corporation hauling, transporting or conveying refuse, trash, rubbish or like waste materials from their own plant or property, but a permit shall be obtained therefor from the city Manager, which permit shall be exhibited to the dump master, and all other portions of this ordinance relative to the type of conveyance or receptacle and the place of dumping shall be applicable to such persons.
Section 6. Any person obtaining a license from the City Clerk under the provisions of this ordinance shall be given a license tag therefor which shall be affixed to and at all times exhibited in a prominent place on the conveyance or receptacle used for conveying such refuse, trash, rubbish or like waste materials.
Section 7. Any person, firm or corporation violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall upon conviction thereof be fined not less than $3.00 nor more than $300.00 for each offence.
Section 8. All ordinances and portions of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
