ORDINANCE NO. 616

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE

POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE SEWER DEPARTMENT

 WHEREAS, Since the adoption of the Appropriation Ordinance for the fiscal year ending December 31, 1939, the City Council ordered a survey of the Police Department, with the result that the Department was entirely reorganized, remodeled, and refurnished at a considerable cost, and

 WHEREAS, Owing to the fact that the Sewage Disposal Plant had not been completed, the maintenance cost thereof could not be accurately ascertained prior to the passage of said Ordinance;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated to the Police Department, the sum of Seven Hundred Fifty ($750.00) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.

 Section 2. That there be and is hereby appropriated to the Sewer Department the sum of One Hundred Fifty ($150.00) Dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary.

 Section 3. By reason of the fact that these expenses have been incurred and the appropriations for the Police Department and the Sewer Department will be overdrawn unless this ordinance is passed and the public health and safety demands such departments continue to function, a special emergency is declared to exist and the City Council so finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health and safety, and therefore it shall take effect upon its passage.

 Passed and adopted this 24th day of November, A. D. 1939.

D. 1939.
