ORDINANCE NO. 624
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ARTICLE III, SECTION 29 (a) OF ARTICLE VI, AND SECTION 39 (b) AND SECTION 63 (a) and (b) OF ARTICLE VII OF ORDINANCE NO. 529.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
SECTION 1. That Article III of Ordinance No. 529 of said City be and the same is hereby amended so that as amended said Article III shall include in proper numerical sequence, in addition to the present sections and provisions thereof, which shall remain in full force and effect, the following sections and provisions:
Section 9 (d) Vehicular traffic facing a Red or Stop signal may cautiously enter the intersection only to make a right turn at said intersection, but shall not interfere with other traffic, or endanger pedestrians lawfully within a crosswalk.
SECTION 2. That Section 29 (a) of Article VI of Ordinance No. 529 of said City, as added to said ordinance by Ordinance No. 542 and as amended by Ordinances No. 545 and No. 549, be and the same is hereby further amended so that as amended said Section 29 (a) shall read as follows:
Section 29 (a). Time Limitation of Parking.
It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to park such vehicle for a period of time longer than two hours at any time between the hours of nine o'clock, A.M., and six o'clock, P.M. of any day, except Sundays and legal holidays, on any of the following streets within said City: On Main Street between Second and Seventh Streets, on Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Streets between Colorado and Rood Avenues, and on Seventh Street between Main Street and Rood Avenue.
SECTION 3. That Section 39 (b) of Article VII of Ordinance No. 529 of said City be and the same is hereby amended so that as amended said Section 39 (b) shall read as follows:
Section 39 (b) That is shall be unlawful for the driver or owner of any motor vehicle or horse-drawn vehicle to make a U-turn or any turn greater than a right angle turn on Main Street from and including the intersections and First to Seventh Streets and all intermediate intersections, on Rood Avenue from and including the intersections at Third to Seventh Streets and all intermediate intersections, at the intersection of Fourth Street and Colorado Avenue and the intersection of Fifth Street and Colorado Avenue, in said City.
SECTION 4. That Section 63 (a) and (b) of Article VII of said Ordinance No. 529 be and the same is hereby amended so that as amended said Section 63 (a) and (b) shall read as follows:
SECTION 63 RIGHT-OF-WAY VEHICLES
(a) Vehicles Approaching or Entering Intersection: The driver of a vehicle approaching an intersection shall yield the right-of-way to a vehicle which has entered the intersection from a different highway. When two vehicles enter an intersection from different highways at the same time, the driver of the vehicle on the left shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle on the right.
The foregoing rules are modified at through highways and otherwise as hereinafter stated in this article.
(b) Vehicle Entering Through Highway or Stop Intersection: The driver of a vehicle shall stop as required by this ordinance at the entrance to a through highway and shall yield the right-of-way to other vehicles which have entered the intersection from said through highway, or which are approaching so closely on said through highway as to constitute an immediate hazard, but said driver, having so yielded may proceed, and the drivers of all other vehicles approaching the intersection of said through highway shall yield the right-of-way to the vehicle so proceeding into or across a through highway.
The driver of a vehicle shall likewise stop in obedience to a Stop sign, as required herein, at an intersection where a Stop sign is erected at one or more entrances thereto, although not a part of a through highway, and shall proceed cautiously, yielding to vehicles not so obliged to stop which are within the intersection or approaching so closely as to constitute an immediate hazard, but may then proceed.
SECTION 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
