ORDINANCE NO. 636

 

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING A SPECIAL APPROPRIATION FOR THE PAYMENT OF PAVING STREET INTERSECTION BONDS.

 

 WHEREAS, There was included in the 1939 Appropriation Ordinance of the City of Grand Junction, the amount of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars, ($2,500.00) for the purpose of paying a like amount of paving street intersection bonds becoming due and payable in the fall of 1939, and

 

 WHEREAS, Such amount was not included in the 1940 Appropriation Ordinance or in the 1940 budget for said City for the reason that it was contemplated that said bonds would be presented for payment and paid before January 1, 1940, and

 

 WHEREAS, Said bonds were not presented for payment until February, 1940, and, by such payment, an overdraft was caused in the General Bonds -- Interest and Principal Fund of said City, and an emergency was thereby created and now exists.

 

 NOW THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That there be, and there is hereby appropriated to the General Bonds -- Interest and Principal Fund of said City, the sum of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00) out of the balance of the General Fund.

 

 Section 2. That in the opinion of the City Council a special emergency exists for the preservation of the public health and safety and this ordinance shall therefore go into effect upon its passage.

 

 Passed and adopted this 20th day of November, A. D. 1940.
