ORDINANCE NO. 655
AN ORDINANCE TEMPORARILY INCREASING WAGES AND SALARIES OF CITY EMPLOYEES
WHEREAS, The rise in commodity prices has greatly increased living costs and justifies a temporary increase in the wages and salaries of all regular city employees and, in the opinion of the City Council, such increase should be granted equally to assist in overcoming undue hardships thereby created;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:
Section 1. Effective June 1, 1942, and continuing until December 31st, 1942, all regular employees of said City of Grand Junction shall be granted a temporary increase in wages and salaries as follows:
$5.00 per month for each person regularly employed by the month.
$.025 per hour for each person regularly employed by the hour.
Section 2. The City Council of said City, may, by resolution or ordinance, extend the term of payment of the above temporary increase for periods of time not exceeding one year each, if in its discretion such extension or extensions are necessary and advisable.
Section 3. That in the opinion of the City Council a special emergency exists and this ordinance shall therefore go into effect upon its passage.
