ORDINANCE NO. 669

 

 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR AN APPROPRIATION FROM THE WATER FUND TO THE GENERAL FUND AS A PAYMENT IN LIEU OF TAXES.

 

 WHEREAS, The Water Department of the City of Grand Junction operates as a Municipal utility, and is not liable for taxes, and

 

 WHEREAS, Other utilities are liable for ad valorem taxes and franchise taxes,

 

 WHEREAS, The City Council of the City of Grand Junction is of the opinion that the Water Department should pay into the General Fund of the City of Grand Junction, five per cent of the gross water rentals, in lieu of taxes, and that such payment to the General Fund is a just and equitable operating cost of the Water Department.

 

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION:

 

 Section 1. That the City appropriate from the Water Fund to the General Fund of the City as a payment in lieu of taxes and as an operating expense of the Water Department, $6,086.25, which sum is five per cent of the gross water rentals for the year 1942.

 

 Passed and adopted this 19th day of May, A. D. 1943.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing Ordinance, being Ordinance No. 669, was introduced, read and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 5th day of May, A. D. 1943, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said City at least ten days before its final passage.
