ORDINANCE NO. 673

AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING AN APPROPRIATION FOR THE MOYER POOL.

WHEREAS, the Federal Revenue Tax for amusements was raised from 10% to 20% on April 1, 1944, thus doubling the amount to be paid for this purpose in 1944 over the amount anticipated to be paid; and

WHEREAS, the increased use of the Moyer Pool during the summer of 1944, together with higher cost of labor and maintenance, have greatly increased the cost of operating the said pool; and

WHEREAS, these additional expenses were caused by unforeseen contingencies arising after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended receipts from the Moyer Pool to the Moyer Pool Fund the sum of $700.00.

Section 2. By reason of the fact that the unforeseen expenditures are necessary at this time so that the Moyer Pool activities may continue throughout the remainder of the season, a special emergency exists. Therefore, the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and it shall take effect on its passage.

Passed and adopted this 6th day of September, A. D. 1944.

/s/ F. A. Hoisington

President of the City Council
