ORDINANCE NO. 675

 

 AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 12 (b), 25, 29 (a), AND 49 (c) OF ORDINANCE NO. 529, AS AMENDED.

 

 BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That Section 12 (b) of Ordinance No. 529 be amended to read as follows:

 

 Section 12. Authority to Designate Pedestrian Lanes and No-Left Turn Corners:

 

 (b) The City Manager is empowered to determine those intersections at which operators of vehicles shall not make a left turn and shall place appropriate signs at such intersections.

 

 Section 2. That Section 25 of Ordinance No. 529 be amended to read as follows:

 

 Section 25. Standing for Loading Or Unloading in Certain Places:

 

 (a) The City Manager shall have authority to determine the location of passenger zones and loading zones and shall erect and maintain appropriate signs indicating the same.

 

 (b) It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to park or to leave such vehicle standing in any alley within the City, except for the purpose of loading and unloading passengers, merchandise, or materials.

 

 (c) It shall be unlawful for the operator of a vehicle to stand or park such vehicle for a period of time longer than is necessary for the expeditious loading or unloading of passengers, or for the expeditious unloading or delivery, or pick up or loading of materials, in any place marked as a loading zone, or in any alley. In no case shall the stop for the loading or unloading of materials exceed fifteen minutes during the hours between 9:00 o'clock A.M. and 5:00 o'clock P.M., excepting on special written permission of the City Manager.

 

 Section 3. That Section 29 (a) of Ordinance No. 529 be amended to read as follows:

 

 Section 29 (a) Time Limitation of Parking:

 

 It shall be unlawful for the operator of any vehicle to park such vehicle for a period of time longer than two hours at any time between the hours of nine o'clock A.M., and six o'clock P.M. of any day, except Sundays and legal holidays, on any of the following streets within said City: On Main Street between Second and Seventh Streets; on Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Streets between Colorado and Rood Avenues; on Seventh Street between Main Street and Rood Avenue; on Rood Avenue between Third Street and Seventh Street; on the south side of North Avenue between Tenth Street and Twelfth Street; on the North side of Main Street between First Street and Second Street; and on South Third Street between Main Street and Colorado Avenue.

 

 Section 4. That Section 49 (c) of Ordinance No. 529 be amended to read as follows:

 

 Section 49. Lights and Brakes: (c) Adjustment of lights and brakes: Motor vehicle headlights shall produce sufficient light to reveal objects two hundred feet ahead and shall be permanently adjusted and equipped in such manner as will eliminate all glare. All persons, firms or corporations holding licenses from the Motor Vehicle Department of the State of Colorado are hereby designated and authorized to test and examine all headlights and brakes to see that the same comply with the provisions of this ordinance, and to issue certificates to that effect.

 

 All vehicles shall have headlights and brakes examined at least once every six months, at the same time as required by State Law, and shall have a certificate of inspection posted upon the windshield of every vehicle.

 

 Section 5. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
