ORDINANCE NO. 679

 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS.

 WHEREAS, Since the 1944 budget was passed and adopted, additional expenses have been caused by the increase in personnel of the different departments; increase in the Federal Tax; replacement of a portion of the flow line; the purchase of new equipment and unexpected repairs to old equipment, which additional expenses were all caused by unforeseen contingencies arising after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance.

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

 Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the General Funds of the City, the following amounts:

A. To the Engineering Department, the sum of Six Hundred Dollars ($600.00)

B. To the Fire Department, the sum of Eight Hundred Dollars ($800.00)

C. To the Park Department, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00)

D. To the Police Department, the sum of Four Hundred Dollars ($400.00)

 Section 2. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended balance in the Water Funds of the City to the Water Department, the sum of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000.00).

 Section 3. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended receipts from rental on equipment to the Equipment Fund, the sum of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($2,500.00).

 Section 4. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended receipts from cemeteries to the Cemetery Fund, the sum of One Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($1,500.00).

 By reason of the fact that it is necessary to provide funds to carry on the work of the various departments of the City of Grand Junction for the balance of the year, a special emergency exists. Therefore, the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and it shall take effect upon its passage.

 Passed and adopted this 7th day of December, A. D. 1944.
