ORDINANCE NO. 688

 AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS

 WHEREAS, Since the 1945 budget was passed and adopted, additional expenses have been caused by the necessity of an increase in wages in the Cemetery Department and the purchase of a considerable additional amount of pipe for replacement of the flow line in the Water Department, which expenses were unforeseen and arose after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance;

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO.

 Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended balance in the Water Funds of the City to the Water Department, the sum of Forty-two Thousand Dollars ($42,000.00).

 Section 2. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended receipts from cemeteries to the Cemetery Fund, the sum of Five Hundred Dollars ($500.00).

 By reason of the fact that it is necessary to provide funds to carry on the work of the Cemetery and Water Departments of the City of Grand Junction for the balance of the year, a special emergency exists. Therefore, the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and it shall take effect upon its passage.

 Passed and adopted this 7th day of November, A. D. 1945.

/s/ F. A. Harris

President of the Council
