ORDINANCE NO. 705

 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF BOOKCLIFF PARK SUBDIVISION & HIGH SCHOOL ADDITION TO THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION

 WHEREAS, a petition has been presented to the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, proposing to annex the following described territory to the City of Grand Junction, to-wit:

 Beginning at a point 284.45 feet north of the S1/4 corner, Section 11, T1S, R1W, Ute Meridian, which point is on the south right of way for the Grand Valley Irrigation Company canal; thence north 70^o 30" west, 177.30 feet; thence north 62^o 45" west to a point due north of the NW corner, Lot 1, Block 7, Shafroth Rogers Subdivision; thence south to the NW corner of Lot 1, Block 7, Shafroth Rogers Subdivision; thence west to a line described as follows to-wit:

 Commencing at a point 1779.1 feet east of the W1/4 corner, Section 11, thence south to a point 19.54 feet west of the City monument at the intersection of Fifth Street and North Avenue.

 Thence north along above described line to the east west quarter section line of Section 11; thence west to the SW corner of the SE1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 11; thence north 749.29 feet, along west side of said SE1/4 of NW1/4 of Section 11; thence south 73^o 48" east, 35 feet; thence north 25^o 08" east, 92.75 feet; thence north 35^o 57" east, 144.96 feet; thence north 46^o 49" east, 90.25 feet; thence north 63^o 49" east, 368.5 feet; thence north 66^o 44" east, 166.1 feet; thence north 79^o 28" east, 86.86 feet; thence north 73.67 feet to the north line of the SE1/4 of the NW1/4, Section 11; thence east along said north line of the SE1/4 of the NW1/4, 700 feet to the center line of North Seventh Street; thence south along center line of North Seventh Street to a point 20 feet east of the City monument at intersection of Seventh Street and Orchard Avenue; thence west 184.75 feet; thence south along the west line of Capitol Hill Subdivision to the point of beginning.

 Which petition has been executed by or on behalf of the owners of more than two-thirds of the area of such territory;

 AND WHEREAS, the said petition is accompanied by four copies of a map or plat of such territory, showing with reasonable certainty the territory to be annexed, the boundaries thereof, and its relationship to established land lines;

 AND WHEREAS, the said territory is contiguous to the City of Grand Junction and is eligible for annexation under the requirements of the law, and the City Council is of the opinion that the annexation of the said territory would be reasonable and in the public interest;

 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 Section 1. That the said annexation be and the same is hereby approved, and that the City Manager and City Attorney be and they are hereby authorized and instructed to file with the County Court of Mesa County, Colorado, a petition for annexation of the said territory to the City of Grand Junction and to do any and all other things which are necessary or advisable to prosecute the proceedings for annexation to a conclusion.
