ORDINANCE NO. 709

 AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THE EAST MAIN STREET ADDITION TO THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION.

 WHEREAS a petition has been presented to the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, proposing to annex the following described territory to the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, under the name of East Main Street Addition, to-wit:

 The NE1/4 SW1/4 of Section 13, except the South 89.13 feet, more or less, which lies South of the South line of the alley South of Main Street extended, in Township One South, Range One West of the Ute Meridian. Also beginning at the Northwest corner of the SE1/4 of the said Section 13, thence East 690 feet, thence South 713.50 feet, thence West 690 feet, thence North 713.50 feet to place of beginning.

 which petition has been executed by or on behalf of the owners of more than two-thirds of the area of such territory;

 AND WHEREAS, the said petition is accompanied by four copies of a map or plat of such territory, showing with reasonable certainty the territory to be annexed, the boundaries thereof, and its relationship to established land lines;

 AND WHEREAS, the said territory is contiguous to the City of Grand Junction and is eligible for annexation under the requirements of the law, and the City Council is of the opinion that the annexation of the said territory would be reasonable and in the public interest;

 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 Section 1. That the said annexation be and the same is hereby approved, and that the City Manager and City Attorney be and they are hereby authorized and instructed to file with the County Court of Mesa County, Colorado, a petition for annexation of the said territory to the City of Grand Junction and to do any and all other things which are necessary or advisable to prosecute the proceedings for annexation to a conclusion.

 Section 2. In the opinion of the Council a special emergency exists and this ordinance is necessary for the immediate protection and preservation of the public peace, health, safety, convenience and general welfare, and it is enacted for that purpose and shall be in full force and effect immediately after its passage and final publication.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing emergency ordinance entitled, "AN ORDINANCE APPROVING THE ANNEXATION OF THE EAST MAIN STREET ADDITION TO THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION," was introduced, read, passed, numbered 709, and ordered published by the unanimous vote of the members of the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, at a regular meeting of said Council held on the 4th day of September, A. D. 1946.
