ORDINANCE NO. 758

AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR A SPECIAL APPROPRIATION TO THE HIGHWAY DEPARTMENT AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

WHEREAS since the 1947 budget was passed and adopted, it has been necessary to make unexpected expenditures in the highway department because of increased labor costs, the installation of additional traffic control equipment, the opening and maintenance of new streets in territory recently annexed to the City, and additional demands for service in the operation and maintenance of the street system, all of which expenses were not contemplated at the time of the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance:

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund and to the Highway Department the sum of $33,500.00.

Because of the fact that it is necessary for the Highway Department to continue in operation, and because of the fact that the aforesaid expenses have been caused by an unforeseen contingency arising after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance, a special emergency exists, and the City Council does find and determine that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public peace, health and safety, and it therefore shall take effect upon passage.

Passed and adopted this 19th day of November, A. D. 1947.

/s/Porter Carson

President of the Council
