ORDINANCE NO. 783

 

 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR SPECIAL APPROPRIATIONS AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.

 

 WHEREAS, Since the 1948 budget was passed and adopted additional expenses have become necessary because of increasing personnel; increase in cost of materials purchase of land for baseball park; expansion of the Health Department; cost of repairs to the Police radio; increased cost of equipment and purchase of equipment not anticipated; additional improvements in Water and Cemetery departments all of which were unforeseen and arose after the passage of the annual appropriation ordinance.

 

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 Section 1. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the General Funds of the City, the following amounts:

 

 A. To the Engineering Department, the sum of Seven Hundred Fifty ($750.00) Dollars.

 

 B. To the Health Department, the sum of Three Thousand Four Hundred ($3,400.00) Dollars.

 

 C. To the Fire Department, the sum of Two Thousand Nine Hundred ($2,900.00) Dollars.

 

 D. To the Park Department, the sum of Two Thousand Four Hundred ($2,400.00) Dollars.

 

 E. To the Police Department, the sum of Four Thousand One Hundred ($4,100.00) Dollars.

 

 Section 2. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the unexpended balances in the Cemetery Fund to the Cemetery Department, the sum of One Thousand Two Hundred Fifty ($1,250.00) Dollars.

 

 Section 3. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the balance in the Water Fund to the Water Department, the sum of Thirteen Thousand ($13,000.00) Dollars.

 

 Section 4. That there be and is hereby appropriated out of the Equipment Funds, the sum of Eleven Thousand ($11,000.00) Dollars.

 

 By reason of the fact that it is necessary to provide funds to carry on the work of these various departments for the month of December, 1948, a special emergency exists. Therefore, the City Council finds and determines that the passage of this ordinance is immediately necessary for the preservation of the public health, peace and safety, and it shall therefore take effect upon its passage.

 

 Passed and adopted, this 8th day of December, A. D. 1948.
