ORDINANCE NO. 784

 

 AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE LEASING OF REAL ESTATE TO THE COLORADO NATIONAL GUARD.

 

 WHEREAS, the City of Grand Junction is the owner of the real estate hereinafter described, which real estate is not used or held for park purposes, public utility purposes, or any governmental purpose;

 

 AND WHEREAS, the Colorado National Guard desires to lease the said real estate for the purpose of erecting thereon an armory building and motor transport building and the construction and maintenance of a parade ground, which facilities may be used by the citizens of Grand Junction when the same are not being used by the Colorado National Guard;

 

 AND WHEREAS, such use of the premises will be of benefit to the City of Grand Junction;

 

 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO:

 

 That the City lease to the Colorado National Guard the following described property, to-wit:

 

 Lots 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, 19, 21, and 23 in Block 4 of Grand River Subdivision; all that portion of land lying West of Lots 23 of said Block 4 and extending to the Colorado River; Lots 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28 in Block 7, Grand River Subdivision; all land lying between said Lot 28 of said Block 7 and the Colorado River; and all land lying between the West end of White Avenue and the Colorado River, in Mesa County, Colorado;

 

 for the purposes above set forth for a term of ninety-nine years from this date at an annual rental of $1.00 per year payable August 1st of each year, upon the express terms and conditions that the lessee keep the said premises and all buildings erected thereon in a reasonable state of repair in order that they may present a good appearance to the public.

 

 In the event the premises are permanently abandoned by the lessee before the termination of this lease, as a Military training center or Military Depot, then this lease may be terminated by the City, and upon such termination the lessee shall have the right that any time within six months after such termination to remove or otherwise dispose of any and all buildings, fixtures, and other improvements constructed upon the premises.

 

 Ordinance No. 773, and all other ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 I HEREBY CERTIFY that the foregoing ordinance, being Ordinance No. 784 was introduced, read and ordered published by the City Council of the City of Grand Junction, Colorado, at a regular meeting of said body held on the 17th day of November, A. D. 1948, and that the same was published in The Daily Sentinel, a newspaper published and in general circulation in said city at least ten days before its final passage.
